Even BCCI may be worried about the financial crisis and future of Indian Cricket team. I think BCCI should move on immediately by ignoring Sahara. I know it takes time to move on after ‘break-up’, but if it can take a chance to consider me seriously, the board will be relieved from all the tensions and controversies. I know it is not the story of a suspense thriller, so I spontaneously come to my point.

All the team members, the respectable, applaudable and commendable players are the valuable assets for BCCI. They serve the country and its corporate houses dutifully and with great regard by endorsing their products for handsome remunerations. They endorse every thing from shaving creams, motor bikes, chavanprash to liquor. They paint their bats, pads, gloves in the color of their sponsors. A day will come when Indian players will be spotted wandering at pubic places having tattoos of the various companies on their faces, arms, necks and at any other part of the body wherever they would be able to display. Why BCCI is worried about sponsors. (I don’t think it actually is. Media is more worried than BCCI). If it can rely upon its players it would be gainer. How could it not rely upon them? Of course they perform better at sponsorship field than at cricket field. Even if every star player starts contributing (I mean investing as sponsorship money) 20 % of his total income from commercials they would have enough money to sponsor the team. They can adopt the Bollywood formula. Nowadays it is common that stars of the movie are also the sponsors or financers of the venture. And in return they share profits. When there are many co-producers they share a deal in various copyrights. One has the overseas rights, another music rights, third television broadcasting rights and many more rights are still under the process of invention. Because budget of the movies is going up and also the number of partners increasing, they have to invent new money minting rights. Now apply this formula in the cricket. Imagine about the days when Sachin Tendulkar would be having the exclusive right of television broadcasting. To get match broadcasting deal the broadcasting ministry may try luring him by offering Bharat Ratan in return along with broadcasting fees. Next is Ajay Jadeja who may have the uniform sponsorship rights. Then he will paint all the dresses with the names of big movie production houses that have item girls in their movies. Of course he may expect a lead role in any movie and a chance to dance with item girl in an item song. Can’t you believe this? Then go and watch the movie Khel. Did you get the tail of Khel now? Lolz. Cricket is a khel (game) of money, played by big khilaris (Players) like Saurav Ganguly the Bengal tiger. Suppose he gets a share for bat sponsorship, he will crack a deal with tiger biscuit company, so that he can get supply of the shaktishali (Powerful) tiger biscuits for his own children till they grow up enough to sign a fresh deal. Now consider Rahul Dravid owns ground sponsorship, he will definitely have deal with cement company. Are you asking me, why? Don’t you know that he is known as wall, tootegi kaise, Ambuja cement se jo bani hai. The next name spins in mind is of the spinner Harbhajan Singh, our own Bhajji Bhaaji. He will surely fight to get the rights for pitch sponsorship. And can you dare to guess with whom he will be contracting to sponsor the pitch? Oh yes right. It was an easy guess. Yes it would be a liquor company. Then he will spill a truck full of his favorite brand of whisky around the pitch. And will dip his ball for a night before the match in the drum of same brand. Why? Are you again clueless? Oh ho!!! to spin his ball like a drunkard on the pitch. This is called real dusra style. Whisky in pitch and whisky in the ball and it has a dual spin. I have a long list of players, sponsorship rights and reasons for choosing them, but let me cut it short here now. Just try to solve that riddle Dhoni will have a tie-up with Javed Habib, Sehwag will rope in Sanjeev Kapoor, and Srisanth will have a contract with Bournvita Company. Why? Now I leave the ball in your court. You can suggest a deal for your own favorite player. Do not hesitate to add your suggestion in comments below.

Sex sells seriously

In India three things has a great market, Cricket, Movies and Sex. You may be surprised to know that if we add a little bit of third in first two or in any other thing, then everything sells like a hot cake. But I know you would not be surprised because this fact is not at all a thing of surprise anymore for all of us.

Sunny Leone

I remember the days when Internet came to India and cyber cafes mushroomed around us in every big and small town. The biggest factor of income for most of the cyber cafes was sex (porn sites). Second comes the chatting, which directly or indirectly had the features of the first factor in it for a large number of youngsters. You all must be aware of this too. Oh ho!!! But now stop remembering the names of the websites and user ids you chatted with! Of course many of those ids sounding like female names were actually used by male users. Ha...ha..ha...ha...

The days are long past when these things used to happen in small closed cabins. Now it happens in drawing rooms. It has got social approval. Don't you think so? Keep reading on. Remember the days when few years ago cheer girls were introduced in IPL cricket matches, we all were ogling our television screens waiting for fours and sixes...Oh!!! Actually for the cheer girls. Before that cricket was only men’s game and it had no extra glamour part in it. But when the celebrities from the glamour industry ventured into cricket world they tried to spice it up with the tadka of glamour. It was with the intention to give an ‘extra dose’ of entertainment during the cricket matches. And we all got that dose in much abundance. Right!!!

Similarly, in our times when the tragic story of Silk Smitha was narrated through celluloid it was sold with the sex masala. Though seduction was the integral part of her real life story and she lived upon her sex appeal. She died because she got nothing except seductive offers, though it was only a spec of her whole cosmos. But why to bother about other bigger things when we can do oh la la la... with that spec only?

These days Sunny Leone is the brand ambassador of this hot selling product and everyone in India is talking about her. Because she is a porn star thus the only thing which is discussed about her is sex. An incident related to her inspired me to write that post. Few days back one of my friend was reading a literary article online. News was flashing with the headline ‘few exclusive photographs of Sunny Leone’s Personal life’ beside that article. Another cool dude sitting next to him was curious to know what she does in her personal life. Does she wear clothes at her home or not. And much more I guess. He interrupted my friend in between and pressed him to click upon the link so that he could ‘see through’ her personal life through these photographs. Half agreed friend clicked on the link and kept on clicking the very next picture one after another. It was a big set back for the cool guy who was curious to watch these pictures. In the first picture Sunny Leone, draped in a full sleeve top and a black jacket, was fondly holding her dog in her arms. Further pictures were same but clicked in different poses and angles. Finally after reaching at the last photograph when he could not find anything of ‘his interest’, he said with his cunning smile, “I think she loves her dog too much.” Did you get the point? Even I am still clue less about what he wanted to say. Huh!!!

But what I know very much is that this was the secret, how sinking Bigg Boss in this season got highest TRP at the end. I can very well predict the handsome business for Mahesh Bhatt’s movie Jism 2 before it could be made. Simply because of Sunny Leone, when she is in; other things like script, story, other actors, music etc. becomes irrelevant for Indian audience. If you do not agree with me let me remind you about Abhishek Bachan’s Idea advertisement based on Indian population growth. ‘India Busy...So No Abaadi...’ What an idea Sir ji...’ Seriously!!!

The One

I am missing you a lot
O my
only
light of
dark loneliness!
Me a moth
who is flying
towards a flamed
sparkle!!
I know I will
be burnt
my death is sure
but, how can I
loose a chance to
to make you
and me
'the one'!!!

Free us from the charge of irresponsible youth

As declining book reading habit is universal phenomenon but scholors and researchers put this blame over youth for being irresponsible about their culture and rich heritage. Now this so called irresponsible forever enjoying youth has become serious about their roots. While orkut community website is only famous for its negative reasons now Punjabi youth have proved its worth through their effort of collaborating youth on orkut community for serving our own Punjabi culture and language. This new wave of awakening was visible on 10th day of May at Punjabi Bhawan, Ludhiana, Punjab (India) where Kose Chanan Sath (a Orkut community) released its second collection of poetry. Detailed report is publish on worldsikhnews.com

Warming up to Enlightenment
Poetry anthology Kosse Channan –II released
Jagmohan Singh

LUDHIANA: I do not remember the last time I went to a poetry reading session and that too a Punjabi poetry reading session. I spent a good part of the day listening to one young poet after another rendering their poems –someone ready to engage the audience and some in a matter of fact way. Contemporary themes resounded in verse after verse, though there it was dominated by love and Heer Ranjah stories. I was a little surprised that there was little political awareness amongst the young poets and they did not indulge in satire at the present state of affairs.

Online orkut communities are generally frowned upon as most of the time; it is used as a forum for engaging in meaningless talk or abusing someone at a distance because of the anonymity provided by the Internet.

The Kosse Channan Sath decided to be different. Taking advantage of the huge potential to harness young poetic talent in the Punjabi language, Amarinder Singh, Yudhvir Singh, Parminder Singh Aziz and other net-savvy poets, set out to build a Punjabi poets community, sometime in 2006. As a result they now have two books in less than three years and with the launch of their website www.punjabizm.com, they propose to go the whole hog and provide a forum for all who have the flair to express in Punjabi.

The anthology of poems, Kosse Channan –II was released by Dr. Surjit Pattar at Punjabi Bhawan, Ludhiana on 10 May, after a remarkable poetry session by the celebrated poet.

This first publication of Kosse Channan Publishers contains writings of thirty poets from various countries. Writers hailing from Punjab and other states of India, USA, UK, Australia, Spain, Philippines and Hong Kong have written in the genres of geet, ghazal, nazm and blank verse. The poems touch contemporary issues like female foeticide, what does it mean to be a girl child in Punjab, and dowry deaths.

Kosse Chanan Sath (Group) had come up with their first book Kosse Chanan in 2007 which was appreciated in India and abroad in the Punjabi speaking areas alike.

The book contains works of Dr. Lok Raj, Parminder Singh Aziz, Seema Sandhu, Rajveer, Yudhvir Singh Virk, Amrinder Singh, A.S. Sukh, Gurvinder Gill, Harjot, Dr. Sanket Kochhar, Iqbal Mavi, Arinder Arora, Ratinderpreet Kaur Anu, Sandeep Kaur Dhaliwal, Preet Dhanoa, Manu Raabia, Poornima Malhotra, Harkeerat, Amardeep Australia, Manisha, Jasleen, Arvinder Singh, Daman Tiwana, Gursharanjit Singh, Amrinder Sidney, Richa Singh, Saurabh Sharma, Jot Ghuman, Jaswinder Kaur and Manveer Singh.

It was sheer delight to listen to the poems of Jaswinder Mehram, Navdeep Kaur and Davvu Manku and Parminder Singh Aziz.

Deep Jagdeep presented a well researched paper about Punjabi presence on the internet, particularly in the area of networking sites and blogging. He pointed out that though there were as many as 10,000 active blogs in Hindi, there were only 60 in the Punjabi language. He said that the orkut group of Shaheed Bhagat Singh has the maximum membership of 53,000 followed by 24,000 of Gurdas Mann.

He made the interesting remark that, “whoever uses the internet is young.” He also made the interesting observation that most of the bloggers and online community members blame themselves for the present status of the Punjabi language. Significantly, Dr. Surjit Pattar remarked that this awareness is a healthy sign as the first step of recognizing the problem and the cause of it has been taken.

He pointed out that the operating software Firefox was now available in Punjabi. Deep Jagdeep was categorical in stating that we should welcome healthy criticism as the Punjabi internet sites showed that generally we do not tolerate criticism,

Dr. Surjit Pattar while releasing the anthology called it a historic event and said that he is glad that what the older generation had been attempting crying hoarse from rooftops has been achieved by a group of young poets who have come together courtesy the internet. He alluded to the fact that the community had good listeners and good admirers like Manisha who had come all the way from Goa. He said that such efforts promise a good future for the Punjabi language.

He also advised the young poets to learn and understand the technical aspects of different genres of poetry and offered to conduct annual or even bi-annual workshops for new writers. Jaswinder Mehram and Dr. Surjit Pattar both emphasized the need to inculcate good and regular reading habits, if one has to shine in the field of literature. He emphasized Kosse Chanan Sath on conducting annual workshops in poetry. Jaswinder Mehram suggested the new writers to read a lot and read the best.

Commenting on the oft-repeated and oft-seen slogan, Puttar Mithde Meve, Rab Sabh Nu Deve…Boys are sweet offerings and let God gift them to all,” Dr. Surjit Pattar said it was time to change it to Bachhe Mithde Meve, Rab Sabh Nu Deve…Children are all sweet and Let God gift them to all.”

Kosse Chanan –II is a well produced and reasonably priced book which lovers of the Punjabi language must read and enjoy.

Jagmohan Singh may be contacted at jsbigideas@gmail.com

Disclaimer

http://thenightrover.blogpsot.com (hereafter “this website”) will abide by, adhere to, accept responsibility for, endure under and act with respect toward the following weblog disclaimer:

By accessing this website, a web browser (hereafter user) is consents that s/he is familiar with, understands and absolutely accepts the following weblog disclaimer:

This blog, its post and the authors are fictitious.
